Members of Inspiration – February 2019

Name: Heather Reay
Age: 33
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 1 year and 4 months

How you got started at CFSC: Before CFSC, I felt like my fitness plateaued. I was bored with my weightlifting routine, the fitness classes I attended were no longer challenging, and I was frustrated because I felt I had tried it all from yoga and barre to boxing and boot camp. CrossFit was something I tucked away in the back of my mind out of intimidation. My husband finally gave me the push I needed to really explore and invest in something that would fill my fitness void. After meeting with Brian and taking on-ramp classes with Dawn, I felt CFSC would provide me with an excellent opportunity to hone the various athletic skills I developed over the years and push my performance to the next level.

Favorite CrossFit movements: HSPU, Power Clean & Jerk. Super fun movements for me!

Least favorite CrossFit movements: GHDSU, Wall Balls. Super not fun movements for me.

Favorite healthy food/meal: The amount of eggs I eat is ridiculous.

Favorite part about CFSC: My favorite part about CFSC is how it changed my relationship with my body and food. I don’t obsess over what my body looks like anymore because I know what it’s capable of and food has become fuel instead of the enemy. It’s also wonderful being surrounded by great coaches and members who are extremely positive and encouraging!

Something we don’t know about you: Google “webbed toe tattoo.” I go viral occasionally.

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: I’d like to encourage all of our new members participate in the intramural Open! It’s such a fun community experience and really brought me out of my shell last year.

Name: Nick Ondrako
Age: 37
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 18 Months

How you got started at CFSC:  I needed a place to start working out again at the recommendation of my doctor (to help rehab my lower back). I began CrossFit at another gym, then began seeing Brian for chiropractic services – one thing lead to another and I loved the energy of this gym, so I stuck around 🙂

Favorite CrossFit movement: Hang Power Cleans, Rope Climbs, Slam Balls

Least favorite Crossfit movement: Any squatting movement with a barbell

Favorite part about CFSC: Aside from the personalities (coaches & members) it’s the fact that you don’t need to think about your workout. The class schedules and programming are done for you, there is no guessing or “what should I do today” mentality. It’s perfect for people that just want to get a great workout in with some great people and not overthink exercising.

Something we don’t know about you: I used to play professional golf for a living.

Words of wisdom: Find that thing that makes you happy and go do that thing. If you knew success was a certainty, what would you attempt today?
