Members of Inspiration – May 2021

Name: Keith Vermillion
Age: 42
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 8-9 years

How you got started at CFSC: My wife used to take me on walks after dinner when I was getting fat. One day she dropped me off at Crossfit. That’s how I knew it had gotten bad. I wish this was a joke.

Favorite CrossFit movement: Jerk

Least favorite CrossFit movement: Double unders

Favorite healthy food/meal: Breakfast Burrito from Get Fit Foods

Favorite part about CFSC: You can’t beat the people and comradery. It’s a large group of people just trying to be the best versions of themselves they can be. Except Graham, nobody is sure what that guy is doing.

Something we don’t know about you: When the gym was in Ayrsley, I was the guy on his patio smoking a cig and waving as y’all ran by. Thought you guys were all nuts!

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: It really is a lot of fun. Leave your ego at home, be teachable and just show up. No one here is a pro Crossfitter and no one expects you to be. Everyone here sucks at something and nobody is looking to judge whatever it is you suck at. Set your own pace and just show up. You’ll be glad you did.

Name: Erin Patchey
Age: 26

How long you have been a member at CFSC: 6 months

How you got started at CFSC: I know a few people who currently or previously attended CFSC and they highly recommended it. After years of feeling pretty lost post-college and having an on/off relationship with fitness, I finally decided to commit to trying something new. My mom had been not-so-subtly hinting that I should try CrossFit for years and paid for my first month (she’s the real MVP).

Favorite CrossFit movement: Handstands and Olympic Lifts!

Least favorite CrossFit movement: Double unders or running. If you’ve seen me attempt either of them, you understand.

Favorite healthy food/meal: A good filet with a side of veggies!

Favorite part about CFSC: The coaching and the community is unlike any place I’ve ever been. I was welcomed by both athletes and coaches without question from day one. Having a supportive circle around me has made this a really positive experience!

Something we don’t know about you: I’ve named all of the cars I’ve owned. First was Dora, the 1998 Ford Explorer. Next came Blanca, my 2008 Jeep Compass. I currently drive Ronda the Honda, who was named after Rowdy Ronda Rousey (before she sold out to WWE).

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Just do it! My biggest regret is not starting sooner. Even if you don’t think you’re “ready,” you’re only delaying your progress by waiting.
