Members of Inspiration – August 2021

Name: Parker Crane
Age: 29
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 2 Years

How you got started at CFSC: My BFF Nate Charest recommended me to the gym!

Favorite CrossFit movement: Bar muscle ups. I feel that my technique and form has improved on the rig and I have enjoyed the recent workouts with them.

Least favorite CrossFit movement: Overhead squats. My flexibility needs improvement and my wrists do not enjoy them!

Favorite healthy food/meal: Steak and grilled veggies

Favorite part about CFSC: I enjoy the flexibility of being able to take different class times each week and interacting with other members that I wouldn’t typically meet. Each class is unique!

Something we don’t know about you: I had bleach blonde hair when I was younger…and a bowl cut…

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Don’t be afraid to practice movements during class that you need improvement on. When I first started, a majority of these movements were new to me and I felt awkward learning them especially in a class setting. The coaches and other athletes were very supportive and knowledgeable and I owe them a lot of credit.

Name: Irene Caldwell
Age: 52
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 2 years

How you got started at CFSC: Cathy asked me to come do PT with her and Coach Buffy, and I was hooked (after I thought I was going to throw up).

Favorite CrossFit movement: Back squats, kettlebell swings and the sled.

Least favorite CrossFit movement: overhead squats and being upside down.

Favorite healthy food/meal: Greek turkey burger bowls

Favorite part about CFSC: The coaches are so invested in you and your wellbeing, the people are awesome and encouraging, and I love the energy in the classes!

Something we don’t know about you: I am addicted to true crime shows, mob and serial killer documentaries. I grew up just south of Detroit, so I think the Jimmy Hoffa disappearance started it.

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Don’t wait! I wish I started sooner; you can modify every move and still get a great workout.
Invest in yourself and you’ll never regret it!
