Name: Courtney “Corndog” Robinson
Age: 32
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 14 months
How you got started at CFSC: My friend Lacey texted me after seeing a “New You Challenge” ad on her Facebook Feed. She said “Hey, we should do this.” I was never one to work out, but she must have caught me in a moment of temporary insanity and I agreed. I loved the New You so I decided, what the hell, I’ll stick around.
Favorite CrossFit movement: Cleans and Power Snatches
Least favorite CrossFit movement: Overhead Squats
Favorite healthy food/meal: Crockpot Buffalo Chicken. Ask Hannah and Elly, it’s amazing.
Favorite part about CFSC: What’s not to love? The coaches are great, the members are hilarious and the workouts challenge you in ways you didn’t think possible. I have never enjoyed working out, but now it’s the best part of my day.
Something we don’t know about you: I am really good at Field Day games. It’s probably because I am overly competitive (I once challenged my friend to a race through airport security).
Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: I had no idea what I was getting into when I started, but it has easily been the best decision I have ever made. Also, this is probably different than anything you’ve done before. Embrace it! It takes some time getting comfortable with being uncomfortable, but it’s totally worth it. At the end of the day, you get out what you put in and you will accomplish things you never thought possible! You might even get a fun nickname along the way… #corndogstrong
Name: James Nguyen (Goku)
Age: 22
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 4 years
How you got started at CFSC: Got started with co-workers at Autobell that said they heard CrossFit is a program that can get you fit. So I tried it out and I ended up liking it. But yet I am still chunky cause no one told me I had to give up Taco Bell, McDonalds, Burger King, Cookout, Jack and a Box, KFC, Bojangles… you know all the good stuff!
Favorite CrossFit movement: The movement that is similar to a burpee but when you don’t get up… I usually do this after a workout… Yeah I think that is my most favorite movement. “Laying down”
Least favorite CrossFit movement: Anything that gets my heartbeat going… wait a minute….. shit, that explains a lot.
Favorite healthy food/meal: Sashimi…. That’s a good answer right? It has low fat and high protein.
Favorite part about CFSC: That everyone one is nice here.
Something we don’t know about you: Sunny and Mike are not really my parents. And I was skinny once upon a time. I am also a upcoming stripper if no of my future plans go through. Oh, and if you missed it already my real name isn’t Goku.
Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Just go ahead and try it. What is the worst that’s going to happen? Burn calories you were looking to get rid of anyway. It is not as crazy as you see on social media, it’s going to be programed for you to get healthier and fitter and who doesn’t want that?
