Jayne & Jason – Inspiring Members of the Month – December 2016

fullsizerender-30Name: Jayne Alston
Age: 50
How long you have been a member at CFSC: A little over 4 years
How you got started at CFSC: My husband, Patrick, was doing CrossFit at a different gym and encouraged me to give it a try.  I’m glad I did.
Favorite CrossFit movement: Deadlifts (abmats are pretty great, too)

Least favorite CrossFit movement: I really dislike the snatch. There’s too much thinking involved on that one.  But, rowing does hold a special place of suck in my heart.

Favorite healthy food/meal: Baked spaghetti squash with ground turkey meat sauce.

Favorite part about CFSC: Other than the obvious answer about liking the community (which I do), I like the varied workouts that the coaches program.  There is always something challenging to look forward to (or dread, depending on the day).
Something we don’t know about you: Don’t laugh – I had a very brief stint as a foot model.  You might have seen my feet (and maybe a little calf, too) in a Belk ad for LA Gear back in the early 90’s.
Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: This is such a great place!  The coaching staff is very knowledgeable and they’ll work with you as an individual to make sure you work at a level that’s right for you.  The workouts can be challenging at times, but, that sense of accomplishment after completing it is such a great feeling.   Give it a try and then stick with it; you won’t regret it.
Name: Jason Hoover
Age:
33
How long you have been a member at CFSC:
3 years
How you got started at CFSC: My lovely girlfriend Sarah.  She had to literally drag me off the couch to get me to work out.
Favorite CrossFit movement: Clean & Jerk

Least favorite CrossFit movement:
Overhead Squat
Favorite healthy food/meal: Anything protein related, sweet potatoes
Favorite part about CFSC: The people!  This place is more than a gym, both the coaches and members become family.  That’s hard to find anywhere else!
Something we don’t know about you: Besides working out, I love to spend my free time building jeeps, there is something about it that helps me disconnect from the “real world”.  I blame my dad for getting me into cars before I learned to walk.
Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Just give it a shot!  CrossFit has a unique way of making everyone feel awkward, uncomfortable, and downright silly at times but it’s these things that make you grow as a person and as a community.  I know I feel this way every time I attempt a handstand.  Give it a month and see how addicting the atmosphere really is!
