Name: Jessi Graver
Age: 40
How long have you been a member of CFSC: Nearly 2.5 yrs.
How you got started at CFSC: The Bootcamp gym across the way unexpectedly had to close its doors in October 2019. My fellow Bootcampers, Lacey Maners, Daniel Egge, and I, decided to see what the popular CFSC gym had to offer. We started out doing SWEAT classes. Due to the pandemic and virtual workouts, we soon evolved into regular CrossFit classes. The rest is history!
Favorite CrossFit movement: Alternating Dumbbell Snatches & Wall Balls (or anything to do with running…Heyyyyy Endurance class friends!)
Least Favorite CrossFit movement: Clean & Jerks (I mean, who can stand a jerk anyway?!)
Favorite healthy food/meal: Spicy salmon spinach salad (say that 3x fast) with a hint of dressing, preferably avocado ranch.
Favorite part about CFSC: The camaraderie and overall GOOD VIBES! Everyone, from the dynamic coaches to the awesome members, is supportive, motivating, and encouraging. I love all the “you can do its”, “fist bumps”, “high fives” and “good jobs” during/after a hard workout. What a sense of accomplishment! You just can’t help but smile.
Something we don’t know about you: I too suffer from OCD (Obsessive Cleaning Disorder). The late “Danny Tanner” would have been proud to know that I also clean my cleaning tools. For instance, I have trained my family (even my two little boys) and coworkers to know where to look when the kitchen sponge has gone missing, again: the microwave or the dishwasher. Afterall, those germs aren’t going to kill themselves!
*Speaking of clean, if you are ever in need of a good, clean joke or pun, I’ve got you!
Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Step out of your comfort zone and try something new: CrossFit! You just might love it! If you set your fears aside and put forth the effort, you will learn what your body (and mind) can do… and then some. You can only get better from here! YOU. CAN. DO. IT (too)!
Name: Kevin Smith
Age: 30yrs old
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 10 months
How you got started at CFSC: I only knew what CrossFit was on the surface level, but never bothered leaving my traditional gym to try it out. After recently watching the Froning documentary, I got a better feel for the sport and knew it was something for me.
Favorite CrossFit movement: I don’t have a favorite movement, but I do enjoy the long, grueling workouts that make you question why you joined this gym in the first place… then you fight through it and finish the workout.
Least favorite CrossFit movement: Pistols… luckily we don’t do them much
Favorite healthy food/meal: Steak, a quality burger, fish tacos and loaded omelets
Favorite part about CFSC: You don’t have to create workouts, programs or anything like that. Show up day after day, ready to busy your ass, and you leave here a better athlete, both physically and mentally.
Something we don’t know about you: I have two amazing children: Amelia 3 and Shade 1
Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Focus on your own workout and your own weights and pace. Diet, recovery and sleep are crucial!
