Name: Kelly Van Sickle
Age: 47
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 12 years?!
How you got started at CFSC: My boyfriend at the time was obsessed with CrossFit and would not shut up about it. He tried to get me into it for years. So I joined CFSC right after I dumped him (he was at a different gym) lol.
Favorite CrossFit movement: cleans, pullups, rowing, kettlebells
Least favorite CrossFit movement: anything with a wide grip and front squats
Favorite healthy food/meal: Pear and arugula salads, grilled chicken, and everything Liz makes
Favorite part about CFSC: You really do make friends for life at this gym. I think it takes a certain mentality to be drawn to CrossFit and that type of thinking coupled with the strong sense of community at CFSC in particular creates stronger bonds that I haven’t really found elsewhere in life.
Something we don’t know about you: I own a coke warehouse on the Mexican border.
Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Have fun with it and find a reason to laugh every day. Embrace sucking at things just as much as you celebrate your successes. Keep showing up, no matter what else is going on in your life, give yourself that gift.
