Athlete of the Month

Members Of Inspriration: April 2025

Name: Jayne Alston
Age: 59
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 13 years (with a hiatus)

How you got started at CFSC: My husband was doing CrossFit at another gym. He wanted me to start going, as well. I agreed, but, under the condition we go to CFSC.

Favorite CrossFit movement: Deadlifts

Least favorite CrossFit movement: Anything that’s not a deadlift. But, if I have to choose one it would be burpees (narrowly beating double-unders).

Favorite healthy food/meal: Salmon w/ brown rice and grilled vegetables

Favorite part about CFSC: Working out w/ the 7am crew.

Something we don’t know about you: I have a phobia of cotton balls. Pulling the cotton out of a pill bottle causes me great distress.  Just thinking of it right now gives me chills. Cotton material = okay, cotton balls = definitely not okay.

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Movement is medicine. As I am getting older, the importance of exercise is very present in my mind.  You’ve got to move your body so why not do it under the supervision and guidance of great coaches whilst alongside some awesome members? Win win!!!

Name: Graham Hardy
Age: 47 years
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 11 years (almost)

How you got started at CFSC: A previous member and employee of mine (Matthew Burkhard) hounded me for about a year before I started. Forever thankful to him for getting me started.

Favorite CrossFit movement: Handstand Pushups

Least favorite CrossFit movement: Burpees

Favorite healthy food/meal: Avocados

Favorite part about CFSC: The 40 min conversations before the WOD with Chuy! I would never do this on my own if it wasn’t for all the great people through the years (even Bob and Keith), I wouldn’t have stayed motivated. Brian has kept an amazing coaching staff and they are always bring a sense of community and their “A” game!

Something we don’t know about you: Both of my boys, Jack (13) and Blake (11) have the same birthday (2 years and 58mins apart).
