I served in the Marine Corp from 1998 – 2002.: I would say that you need to listen to the coaches and your body. The coaches will work to teach you the proper techniques, and all you need to do is be willing to listen. It is much easier to go slow at first and develop proper form because it is very hard to break bad habits once they start. Also you need to listen to your body. It is great to push yourself hard during the workout, but you need to make sure you are giving your body the proper rest.
