6 Ways we’re different than Orange Theory

6 Ways we’re different than Orange Theory

I get asked often how we’re different than Orange Theory.

We also get people that were doing Orange Theory and looking for something “more”.

So, if you’re going to Orange Theory and wondering what we do, or thinking that we’re the same, we’re not.

We both want (I supposed they do to) exercise to be a consistent part of your healthy lifestyle, however there are a number of differences that might be helpful to be aware of.

1. We are a coaching facility– Our coaches provide individualized feedback and modifications based on skill level and goals.

Orange Theory uses a more uniform class structure with trainers guiding members through a set workout using heart rate zones.

2. We offer 1 on 1 personal training- For many people, jumping right into high intensity exercise isn’t the best or safest for them. We require 1 on 1 personal training prior to taking classes. We also have clients that only do 1 on 1 personal training and not participate in classes.

Orange Theory does not offer any personal training options.

3. We offer individualized nutrition coaching- Our goal is to help the individual in all aspects of their health. Exercise is one pillar.

Orange Theory does not offer nutrition coaching.

4. Different equipment- We use dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, gymnastic rings, rope climbs, plyo boxes, and more.

Orange Theory primarily uses treadmills, rowers, resistance bands, and light to moderate dumbbells.

5. Workout structure- Our workouts change daily and often involve lifting weights, bodyweight movements, and high-intensity circuits.

Orange Theory follows a structured class format with a focus on endurance, strength, and power, rotating between cardio and strength stations.

6. Class size- Our class size is capped at 17, with the average class of 12 people.

Orange Theory can have a max of 36 people, with the average class in the upper 20’s.

We’re both doing great work to help people find a fun way to exercise. Yet we’re different.

I love that Orange Theory moved to our neighborhood. They’ve helped thousands get off the couch and start to enjoy the benefits of exercise.

They will take on a capacity of over 1000 members at a location, we only want 250.

We’re not in competition, we’re working together.
