Name: Priscilla Chalke
Age: 30
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 1 year
How you got started at CFSC: I was a member of a different Crossfit gym from 2014-2016, but hadn’t been very consistent. I knew that Crossfit made me feel stronger, sleep better, and feel happier in general and wanted to get back into it. I did some research on local gyms, and decided to give it a go in early March, 2020. Little did I know, the world was about to shut down. CFSC pivoted seamlessly, and I did the workouts over zoom from my garage for the next 3 months. It was awesome to finally meet everyone when we returned to the gym!
Favorite CrossFit movement: Deadlifts
Least favorite CrossFit movement: Overhead squats
Favorite healthy food/meal: Chopped salad with whatever protein I’m feeling that day – so many different flavor options!
Favorite part about CFSC: The people. I’m definitely an introvert, and joining a new community can be scary. The other members and the coaches are all so welcoming. The hour a day I spend here never fails to put a smile on my face (even when we have to do burpees).
Something we don’t know about you: I’m a classically trained pianist (Suzuki method for 15 years!). I love hiking and have been on hiking trips in 5 countries in the last few years. Living debt-free is a major focus for me – I became debt free (except for my newly acquired mortgage) in 2020!
Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Just give it a try! Show up consistently. Everything can be scaled. The benefits are enormous – physically and mentally.
Name: Kyle Stoodt / “Special K” / Richard Sprinkle
Age: 32
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 3–4 years?
How you got started at CFSC: When I moved to Charlotte, I started playing Rugby, and needed something to help me better prepare for all the man on man contact. That should also explain some of the brain damage!
Favorite CrossFit movement: Clean/Snatch / Corpse Pose
Least favorite CrossFit movement: PISTOLS / Front Squat
Favorite healthy food/meal: Smoked and Seared Steak with Grilled Veggies
Favorite part about CFSC: 6 AM Shenaniganz! The coaches and the community, except the 5am’ers… I don’t trust anyone that wakes up that early to work out. I got my eye on you kids!
Something we don’t know about you: Hooker is my rugby position, and my way of life.
Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Enjoy being a beginner and enjoy the journey no matter how bumpy it might seem, because it doesn’t last forever! The harder you work the more fun it will become!
