How long you have been a member at CFSC: Since January 2023
How you got started at CFSC: I am a runner and wanted to incorporate some weight lifting into my workouts. Although I was comfortable with running, I had minimal exposure to weight lifting. I was looking at a few fitness programs/gyms in the area and ended up deciding on CFSC. I felt that CFSC would give me the most opportunity to get comfortable with weight lifting. It was definitely a big decision for me as I have never done CrossFit before, but I am so happy I made the decision to join. I never would have thought I would be able to do half the movements that I can do now.
Favorite CrossFit movement: Running and back squats
Least favorite CrossFit movement: Overhead squats
Favorite healthy food/meal: Medium rare sirloin steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli.
Favorite part about CFSC: The community! Everyone has been so helpful in giving me tips as I get more familiar with movements, and there have been multiple times where people encouraged me during a workout when I really needed it.
Something we don’t know about you: I am an identical mirror twin! A mirror twin is a specific type of identical twin where features match like a reflection in a mirror (Ex. Hair is the opposite way, dominate hand is opposite, etc.).
Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Give yourself grace! Sometimes this is easier said than done, especially if you are competitive like me, but everyone has to start from somewhere. There are going to be movements you are really good at, and some movements that are going to be more difficult. That is completely normal! For movements that are unfamiliar or are more difficult for you, ask a coach for help. That is something that I personally have done as I continue to get more familiar with movements. The coaches are always willing to answer any questions you have or help you find a modification. Embrace the journey and be proud of your accomplishments, no matter how small they might be!

How you got started at CFSC: I found CFSC during the pandemic after my old gym transitioned into new ownership.
Favorite CrossFit movement: Snatch
Least favorite CrossFit movement: Burpees and thrusters
Favorite healthy food/meal: Sushi
Favorite part about CFSC: The awesome coaching staff and community! I can pop into any class and know that the regulars will be open and friendly, and that I will receive top notch coaching.
Something we don’t know about you: It may now seem like it, but I don’t always wear purple. Haha!!
Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: There is no shame in scaling. Everyone’s fitness journey is different and we’re not all at the same place. Even the best of us have had to scale something at one time or another.
