Members of Inspiration – July 2019

Name: Stephanie Williams
Age: 31
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 3 years

How you got started at CFSC: Our son’s godparents had been doing CrossFit for a few months. It had been a little bit at the time since we had seen them. So, when they came by to visit one weekend, I was taken aback by how good they looked. Not just physically but I could just genuinely feel all the positive energy radiating off of them. That was the final push I needed to try CrossFit because I had always wanted to but couldn’t get out of my own way due to the unknown.

Favorite CrossFit movement: Hmmm, I’m going to have to say power cleans but slam balls are starting to work their way into my top five.

Least favorite CrossFit movement: RUNNING.

Favorite healthy food/meal: Salmon, salmon, and more salmon with some broccoli of course.

Favorite part about CFSC: The process. Admittedly it was something I took for granted. It wasn’t until this year, 2019, I truly came to appreciate it. This is the first time I’ve been getting to the gym consistently ever week EVEN when the WOD terrifies me. It feels good to accomplish what you think you can’t and then get really good at it.

Something we don’t know about you: I’m extremely shy. It may not seem that way but trust me, I AM!

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Get out of your own way. Fear causes us to block so many great opportunities available to us. It’s cliché but you really don’t know until you try, so try.

Name: Bryan Craver
Age: 26
How long have I been a member at CFSC: A little over 2 years

How you got started: One day soon after moving to Charlotte I wanted to start working out and looked up places near my new apartment and CFSC popped up. Always wanted to give CF a shot and figured why not? And been coming ever since!

Favorite Movement: Definitely Power/Hang Cleans they are just so satisfying when your form is correct!

Least Favorite movement: Anything where I’m upside down. Just something about it has never been comfortable for me.

Favorite Healthy Food/Meal: Baked chicken with some kind of veggies or rice with siracha sauce!

Favorite part about CFSC: Hands down the people. Both coaches and athletes have always been so supportive and always pushing one another to be better. It’s like a big family and it makes it so enjoyable and addicting to come in and workout every day.

Something you don’t know about me: I have actually never traveled outside the United States. (I know I need to change this lol)

Words of Wisdom for people who are new or interested in trying CrossFit: Just give it a shot. It’s completely worth it. It is the most fun I have ever had working out in my entire life. Stick with it. You aren’t going to hit every lift, and some days there will be workouts where you are gonna get your butt kicked. It’s a part of the process of getting better and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Also, consistency is key. You can’t get better by not showing up. And seeing yourself hit PR’s, perform better and getting stronger is worth every single rep that led up to it.
