Favorite healthy food/meal: Chicken + Broccoli + Pasta (the healthy kind)

Favorite part about CFSC: Community + WOD variety

Something we don’t know about you: I lost my father to suicide when I was 19 years old. Community in Christ and exercise has been relieving and healing. Please take all facets of health seriously. No matter any despair, please keep faith. You are not alone.

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: You and I were born to face failures and difficulties. Let us not be defined by these, but rather by how greatly we triumph after getting knocked down.

“The most important thing is this: to be able – at any moment – to sacrifice what you are for what you will become.” – Eric Thomas

Name: Joanna Furr
Age:
39 (40 in a few weeks)
How long you have been a member at CFSC:
Off and on for 13yrs

How you got started at CFSC: P90x wasn’t it, and I hated instructor-led classes.  CFSC was in the neighborhood back then, so I gave it a shot.  Never looked back!

Favorite CrossFit movement:
All the heavy lifts- Deadlift, Front and Back Squats, and Heavy Cleans
Least favorite CrossFit movement:
OHS and burpees

Favorite healthy food/meal:
Depends on the mood, but I love a good grilled chicken or steak kabob with lots of veggies and pineapple with a side of rice.  Also loving my daily snack of Greek yogurt with fresh berries and peanut butter granola

Favorite part about CFSC:
The coaches and the community.  I’ve had to take breaks from CFSC for various reasons, but every single time I was ready to return, there was never a question of where to go.

Something we don’t know about you:
Along with being a nurse, I am also a certified life coach.  I really love supporting others to succeed in life and health.  Also, I went to the state spelling bee in 4th grade: nerd alert!

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it:
Don’t believe all the rumors about CrossFit being dangerous.  Our coaches are some of the best ensuring that everyone is able to complete the workout safely and to their best ability based on skill, injury, etc.  Your biggest obstacle is your own mindset.
