Favorite healthy food/meal: Egg Roll in a Bowl from a recipe that CFSC sent out year ago.

Favorite part about CFSC: People claim that Crossfitters cannot stop talking about CrossFit, that may be true but I can’t stop talking about how awesome and amazing our gym and our people are. I love this gym and our people here; they make me want to be a better me, a better person & I’m always inspired and enriched by our people one & all.

Something we don’t know about you: I have 2 cans of emergency haggis, you know just in case of emergencies.

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Be brave, be bold, do what you don’t think you can do every chance you get; you are stronger, faster and smarter than you know or can believe. If you ever have a doubt just hit me up I’ll make sure you know how much of a fan I am of you and your life.

Name: Johanna Lucía Segura Rivera
Age: 40 years old today (Nov 1st)
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 10 years

How you got started at CFSC: My cousin who lives at Slidell, LA, and started Crossfit there with great results.  Months after seeing her working out, I saw the Crossfit Steele Creek sign at Westinghouse Blvd and stopped by to check it out.

Favorite CrossFit movement: Back Squat

Least favorite CrossFit movement: Overhead squat

Favorite healthy food/meal: Picadillo (cut veggies with ground beef, seasoned) rice and cabbage salad

Favorite part about CFSC: The community, the support, the laughter, the athletes that become your friends and your cheerleaders. The progress you get through the years. I found this place to become my happy hour and one of my healing places where I can bring all the heaviness and leave feeling light and happy.

Something we don’t know about you: 3 years ago my grandma went to heaven and it has been so painful to me. In those days of grieving I cried in every single workout and so often I still do. But every workout also washes my pain away.

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Give it a try, it not only works your body, it works your will, your mind, and your self-esteem.  You will become stronger and it will move to so many areas of your life when your only choice is to be strong.
Trust the process; Rome was not build in a few weeks. But never ever give up and keep fighting and showing up. Like the board says “If you let it, this place will change you.”
