Members of Inspiration – January 2024

Name: Brandyy Wade
Age: 50 this month!
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 20 months

How you got started at CFSC: I moved from Weddington, and Coach Cory from Weddington Crossfit suggested CFSC, and I never left.

Favorite CrossFit movement: wall balls, squats

Least favorite CrossFit movement: burpees, bar facing burpees, any kind of burpees, including up downs that are basically burpees. AND overhead squats. When will I ever need to do an overhead squat?

Favorite healthy food/meal: chocolate peanut butter protein shakes/ grilled chicken with steamed broccoli

Favorite part about CFSC: The support from coaches and other members. Everyone is so supportive. They encourage me to step out of my comfort zone knowing I am stronger than I think. Now CFSC is helping me train for the Spartan 5K Sprint I signed up for in April.

Something we don’t know about you: I have a law degree and a Doctor of Education

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: You can do it. The best part of Crossfit is that you can make it your own. If there are moves I haven’t mastered yet, I can modify and get a great workout.  It’s very exciting when I realize I can do a move I couldn’t do before.

Name: Joshua Miller
Age: 45
How long you have been a member at CFSC: 2 Years

How you got started at CFSC: I have been a runner since I was 14 years old and had spent most of my adult life always training for the next marathon. Towards the end of 2021 I started to feel burned out and knew I needed a change. When looking for a new activity I wanted to find something that was in a group setting. Although I ran alone for the longest time, it’s not until I joined a running group that I really started to improve. I have always liked being held accountable and pushed to do better by others. I’ve known several people who did or had done CrossFit over the years, but I never thought it was for me. To be honest, I use to make fun of CrossFit. I’ve known Brian for 16 years and when he first opened the gym, he said I should give it a try and I laughed it off. Well Brian gets the last laugh because I now pay him money to do the very thing I laughed at and I love it!

Favorite CrossFit movement: Rowing, Running, Box Jumps, Wall Balls

Least favorite CrossFit movement: Overhead Squats

Favorite healthy food/meal: This may or may not surprise anyone, but I don’t think anything I eat is considered “healthy.” My favorite meal would be a philly cheesesteak, seasoned fries, and a large Dr. Pepper. I’m a big fast-food guy and eat it at least twice daily. I should listen to Buffy more.

Favorite part about CFSC:
The coaches and the members. From day one I felt welcomed by everyone.

Something we don’t know about you: I have an OnlyFans account that anyone can subscribe to… I’m just kidding J
Something real that you don’t know is that I ran 410 miles from Charlotte to Nashville in 2021 to raise money for St. Jude. We raised over $87,000.00! I averaged 30 miles a day for 14 days. This was one of the greatest experiences of my life.

Words of wisdom for people who are new to CrossFit or interested in trying it: Feet on the floor! This is a saying I use to wake up at 4:00 am every day, but it’s also what I tell my friends and family when it’s time to tackle a problem. Don’t lie around and wait; put your feet on the floor and get moving. If you are shy, scared, or worried about trying CrossFit, don’t be, feet on the floor and go. I promise the people at CFSC have your back.
